A vibrant yet tranquil piece inspired by a particular favourite dog walk on the Welsh side of the river bordering Shropshire. During winter walks the vegetation through the woods is sparse, but the onset of Spring’s verdant rush encloses those spaces with the smells, textures and feeling of warmth and new beginnings. At one point you have to cross the railway track, which took me months of doing that walk before I could cross without looking left and right half a dozen times to check there was no train coming!
Size -50cm x 50cm x 4cm without frame. With fixings, ready to hang.
Oil and Graphite on canvas. 2025.
With the early autumn sunshine drying the bales of hay in my peripheral sight, it’s not surprising these concentric circles appear in my work at that time of year. Each journey, the experience of 17 miles of countryside between home and the main shops, infiltrates my subconscious with rich textures and colours blurred by the speed of my van.
Size - 45cm x 45cm to be put on stretcher bars and framed in a white float frame, approx 50cm x 50cm x 4cm inc frame.

Inspired by many dog walks on Offa’s Dyke, where you emerge from the woods to be greeted by a view of layer after layer of hills. Round each bend in the hillside another vista takes your breath away, along with the prevailing wind. Nestled in the valley below, Panpwnton is hidden by the woods and just like my house you can only see where abouts it is in the winter.

This was the first piece created in the series Sticks And Stones. Inspired by the waterways and forces through the Ribble Valley. It was created using many layers of acrylic paint, inks and graphite. Sanding and scratching and reapplying over and over creates a rich, textural surface.
