Sticks And Stones.
A series of work inspired by the contrast between movement and stasis. Water, whether in puddles, rivers, lakes or the seas, draws me in like a dog to the sound of a crisp packet. It’s ability to give life, cleanse, heal, shape, scare or calm is awesome in the true sense of the word. My travels in the UK almost always end up near a body of water where I soak up the colours, sounds, textures and feels. I do photograph, sketch and sometimes paint 1st hand. However, most of this series was produced many months after the experiences as an emotional response to each place.

Borderlands
A huge change in circumstances lead to a huge move. We upped sticks and moved to Wales summer 2025. In turn this has lead to a huge change in the way I work. Instead of giving time and space for the places I visit to percolate and spew out somewhere down the line, I found that living amongst the rivers and trees I am so drawn to has had an odd effect on my practice. I don’t have the space for percolation, the senses are full and joyous 24/7. Every day I look at the same hillside through my windows with different eyes, noting subtle changes in colour, texture and feel. The patterns the mists make swirling through the trees and whether the river is rising or falling, covering or exposing the river stones or the vegetation or the roads! This series feels more representational with its autumnal colours and textures. I feel connected to it and am becoming part of it.
